I'm actually surprised that the double cat has much more fenderish character - much rounder sounding neck pickup. Double cat sounds more towards fat tele with bigsby whereas Starplayer is more the Doose own sound - much more into Gretsch territory I guess. I definitely prefer the sound of Double Cat.

Did you change your strings on the RB-612 and how difficult is it. It looks complicated and I can't find any info on changing them, looks like the tailpiece may have to come off.

I have the HB, but I prefer the Danelectro. If I heard it first, I think I would have saved up for it. It definitely sounds closer to a Ric!

Danalectro sound mote jangly

Nothing else sounds like Danelectro lipstick tube pickups. They aren't at all hot, but nothing else has the airy, clear sound. This will cut through a band's mix at volumes where a Les Paul would be nothing but mud. Overdriven they never lose definition. Obviously they will suck at metal, but how sweet it this?

Nice video and I appreciate that you got the facts mostly right. But, it would be nice, as well as a professional courtesy if you gave credit to the folks that did all this research so you could put together this video.

Curious about how this beast is built. The edging and rivets look like metal but are they all plastic? Housing built from MDF instead of plywood? I see where comments were made that the 50th anniversary edition is just a cheap veneer. Not trying to bash the amp, just looking at ways to make it build it special. Thinking about buying new but another approach is to buy used and swap any mdf for plywood with a real veneer or even hardwood. Amp sounds great as is, maybe just use it and enjoy the thing. Torn between the 120 and a 40. The 40 is probably all I need but a good smooth bass push would be cool.

Thank you very much for your video, it sounds good and you make the guitar sound the best. I have that guitar for a few years now. I don't have the level that you have or even close to it. In my opinion, it is a good guitar. It has a bright sound and depending on the amp it can sound a little shrill. What I like least is that the width of the nut is a little narrow (41mm) and the strings are too close together. I recently changed the nut for a acoustic guitar bone nut of 43mm that I had to sand to adapt , and it has improved a lot the playability.

The sm7b has a smoothness and richness to it. A lil darker as well. The sm57 realty captures those peaks though. MUCH sharper transients, a little brighter and plucky

The Roland works because it is probably the best solid state app ever made with its totally unique stereo imaging. Any self respecting guitarist would have BOTH a Roland JC and one of the high end Fender Twin/Deluxe tube amps.
